UAE Rotax MAX Challenge round 9 preview
The ninth round of the 2012/13 United Arab Emirates – Rotax MAX Challenge (UAE RMC) takes place this weekend at Dubai Autodrome. As the season enters its final quarter the competition is becoming increasingly tense.
Oliver George hung on to win a nail-biting finale at Al Forsan a fortnight ago with a disintegrating gearbox. He will be looking for another win in the DD2 class to assert his authority over the series. Sanad Al Rawahi and Arnaud Bouf have been chasing hard in recent rounds but they will need a strong showing if they are to depose the unstoppable George.
In 125 MAX, Abdullah Al Rawahi now leads the series from Philippe Valzenza. Both drivers will be out to score a win but will have to contend with the likes of Ameer Hassan and Piers Pakenham-Walsh. Former point’s leader, Alexandre Silanine, will be hoping that his fortunes improve. He has been hampered by problems over the last few races that has cost him dearly and seen him slip to third in the table.
Pasqual Pook needs to win in the Junior 125 MAX class to keep his chief rivals, Taymour Kermanshahchi and Guilio Peroni at bay. Tehmur Chohan is the favourite to take victory in the Mini Class, but a recent improvement in form from his rivals may make things harder. Sem Knopjes will be looking to continue his dominance in the Micro MAX catergory.
Racing is due to commence at 10am on Friday 1st March at Dubai Autodrome. Spectators are welcome.
