ROUND 2 DD2/DD2 MASTER

RACE REPORT

Al Forsan International Sports Resort – Supported by Abu Dhabi Sports Council

The combined DD2 and DD2 Masters grid produced another thrilling showcase of speed and experience at Al Forsan International Sports Resort, with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council once again supporting a full-strength round of UAE Rotax competition. After topping qualifying by the smallest of margins, Adam Malek looked poised for a breakthrough victory, but it was Tyla Harris who ultimately emerged as the benchmark performer of the day.

Harris, already unbeaten from the opening weekend, made life difficult for himself with a troubled Heat race but recovered superbly in the Pre-Final. Starting alongside Malek for the main event, he wasted no time in asserting himself. Malek led the first few corners, but once Harris found clean air, the Mumbai Falcons driver inched away lap by lap with measured precision.

The drive of the race, however, arguably belonged to Marc Bassier. Starting from the back of the field after a disqualification in the Pre-Final, Bassier launched an outstanding comeback in the Final, carving through the field with confidence to secure second place overall — a statement performance. Malek completed the overall podium after another consistent showing for MNM.

Further back, the battle within the DD2 Masters category was just as fierce. Reigning champion Anthony Hogg delivered a masterclass in composure, matching the pace of many DD2 frontrunners and bringing home fourth place overall — along with a commanding victory in the Masters classification. Behind him, Kyle Blockley fought strongly throughout the race to secure second in Masters, while Greg Watt completed the Masters podium with another dependable drive.

Elijah Youlten rounded out the overall top five after a strong showing for Mumbai Falcons, while early Masters contender Maurits Knopjes was forced to retire from the final after technical issues halted his progress.

Harris’ win extends his perfect streak in the category, Malek continues to close in on victory, and Bassier’s charge ensures the Senior MAX momentum carries firmly into the DD2 ranks as well.
