Bambino karts hit the UAE
Traditionally karting has been a sport open to drivers who are at least 8 years old. Some kart circuits, including Al Ain Raceway, have catered for drivers as young as 7, giving them a chance to experience practice laps in a controlled environment. One of the main reasons for this was that kart manufacturers simply did not make equipment small enough for drivers below that age. If you couldn’t reach the pedals, or the helmet didn’t fit then there really wasn’t much that could be done… until now.
Al Ain Raceway is proud to announce that it is now stocked with brand new Intrepid and Top-Kart Bambino chassis’ complete with Comer C50 engines! The Bambino kart has been around for a few years, mainly in Europe, and over the last 12 months demand in the UAE for such a thing has been on a rapid increase. As such these karts are aimed at young drivers between the age of 5 and 7. Bad news for parents, great news for kids!
The Bambino karts will be competing in their own series in the AARKC (the UAE’s national karting championship) this year, but under a slightly different format to the other classes. As opposed to racing for position the young drivers will compete on track for fastest lap times. Whilst overtaking will be allowed, the aim is to give the drivers the opportunity to familiarise themselves with a racing environment without risking the red mist of raw competition for such young children. Race results will be determined by best lap classification and championship points will be awarded accordingly.
The complete kart and Comer C50 engine can be purchased from Al Ain Raceway as well as spare parts. Engine and kart serving is also on offer in an effort to make its concept even more appealing. A weight limit will also be in place to ensure that all drivers have a fair chance of setting the best lap time.
Anyone who is interested in scheduling a free demonstration outing at Al Ain Raceway should contact Gina Capenhurst on 03 768 6662 ext 205 or email her at gina@alainraceway.com . Please note that strict restrictions will be applied.
This is the dawning of a new era in the UAE Motorsport scene, get involved!
