Cedric began karting in Dubai in rental karts before trying his hand early on with the Comer W60 on and off for a couple of years. He then started racing in the UAE’s national karting series – the AARKC – at the start of 2011/12 season.
His first year in Junior Rotax MAX was sound as he gained knowledge and experience in this highly competitive class. Over the course of the season he closed the gap to the front-runners. Cedric is one of the most noticeable drivers on the grid on account of his bright orange crash helmet and was one of the few drivers who kept a clean sheet in terms of on-track penalties last season, a very important accolade.
An all round popular young driver, Cedric is by far the most keen to help promote the sport in the UAE. As part of an online campaign he started the Promote Karting Campaign (PKC) which through various social media is aimed at creating a greater awareness of the sport and to try and help the grids grow. On a regular basis he organises a “meet up and drive†gathering for anyone with a kart, the purpose of which is to practice together, share tips and advice and generally bring the karting community together. The effort has proven to be successful. Not bad for such a young lad! More information on the PKC can be found here www.facebook.com/Promotekarting.uae.
