AARKC 2011-12 ROUND 12
The 12th and final round of the Al Ain Raceway Kart Club series was held at Al Ain Raceway under mixed conditions. Despite some early showers the track was in excellent condition for the Finals.
In Mini MAX Zachary Robertson dominated from the start to take a fine win. Taymour Kermanshahchi and Tehmur Chohan fought one another for second with Taymour taking the place. The result means that Tehmur Chohan is the first ever UAE Mini MAX Champion.
In Senior MAX Sanad Al Rawahi finished the season in the style he has demonstrated all year. He won from pole position in blistering style. Hussain Umid Ali finished second ahead of Philippe Valenza. Sanad was crowned Champion with Nikita second and Raffaele De Lorenzi third in the standings.
The MAX Masters were extremely close on points. Jonathan Mowatt lead early on but was passed by Walid Al Qassemi who went on to win the race. Newly crowned Champions Andrew Fuller was third. Walid was classified second in the series ahead of Luc Bauwmans.
In Junior MAX, Cyrus Engineer, Abdullah Al Rawahi and Pasqual Pook all ran line astern, and after a stunning move, Cyrus went on to win from Abdullah. The result sees Abdullah retain his championship title ahead of Cyrus and Pasqual finished the year third.
Finally the DD2 class was intense, and after bad start the grid spaced out. Fabienne Lanz led early on but was passed by Oliver George with a gutsy move. Oliver went on to win but couldn’t shake Fabienne off his tail. Hasher Al Maktoum was third. Maurits Knopjes was crowned Champion once more. Oliver George finished in second place 1 point ahead of Mohammed Al Dhaheri, which after 12 rounds is very close indeed.
The national kart series – AARKC – returns in September.
